Dining Room Updates
If you follow me on instagram (@dapperhouseblog), you may have noticed that the dining room is a little different from when I last blogged about it. So today I am taking you on a tour to show you what is new.
I had to move some furniture around when making room for the Christmas tree which led to the antique Victor radio being moved to the dining room. I loved it so much there that I have decided to leave it permanently in this room. I just love this piece of furniture and how it brings life into the space and the best thing is that it still works! There is nothing more lovelier than listening to old music while enjoying a nice dinner with friends and family.
I then added these two wall shelves from Target in order to display some of my favorite things that either have been handed down to me or I have been able to score at our local antique shops here in Jacksonville, Florida. love combining antique items with new decor, I feel that it helps bring interest and life to the space with unique, one of a kind items. Like the vintage Gold Imari plates my mom gifted me add much needed color to the walls in this room and the new silver pieces add some fun interest.
In the other corner, I placed this huge blue vase from Home Goods. As soon as I saw it at the store, I knew I had to have it and to be honest I had now idea where I would place it in our home. But I brought it and I am so glad I did because it looks great in this little corner. I added some wood sticks from Hobby Lobby and placed another smaller vase next to it that is filled with wine corks that I have been collecting for years and years. On the walls, I added another vintage Gold Imari plate and a new mirror from Ballard Designs on top to balance it out. On the opposite wall, I added two small paintings that my husband and I bought years ago while walking the streets of Fernandina Beach, Florida with the hopes of hanging them in our future home.
The bar area has also gotten a little face lift! I decided to spray paint old wine bottles copper and placed baby's breath flowers on them for some greenery. I love baby's breath and tend to gravitate decorating with it when I want to keep the colors simple. Below I placed a water color I got years ago when I was studying abroad. I love the colors in this watercolor and who doesn't love Paris?!
And that is it for the updates in this room! Hopefully next time I show you this space we will have finally been able to paint the walls a light grey. It is on our list of things to do, but with a 10 month old baby, it has been hard to find the time. We are also on the hunt for a new area rug for this space, make sure you subscribe or follow me on social media so you can be sure to see it! Slowly but surely we are getting there!
Hope you guys enjoyed this post, leave me a comment below and let me know what you think!
