A Very Nautical Christmas
I have been so excited to decorate our home for the holidays this year because it will be the first year that our baby boy Lucas will be celebrating with us. I am thrilled to be able to begin new family traditions with our new baby and show him all about the magic of giving. As a little girl, I remember getting so excited for Christmas time, helping my mom decorate the tree and set up one of the many Christmas villages throughout our home. Even getting to have my very own Christmas tree in my room. I want Lucas to experience this same excitement with me as I shared it with my mom.
So it felt only natural to begin our holiday decorating with the nursery. I knew I wanted Lucas to have his own tree, but I was scared of having one on the floor as he is crawling all over the place now. A small table top tree was the solution to this problem. I got this specific one from At Home. I was pleasantly surprised of the quality for the price. After a little fluffing I was ready to begin decorating. I started by adding lights from Dollar Tree. 20 light bulbs was plenty for this small tree to add a bit of brightness that the tree needed. I then began adding color with these amazing glass ornaments that I got from Joss & Main. I love these so much! They are adorable and the touch of glitter is amazing with the lights shining through. To finish, I added some simple round ornaments from Target. These were super cheap and really brought the whole tree together. I added the tree skirt from At Home and three wooden car toys and Lucas's first Christmas tree is complete!
To add little Christmas cheer to his shelves, I added the "Santa please stop here" ornament and the red truck with a Christmas tree in the back that I purchased from the Target dollar spot. In front, I placed a snow globe that was gifted from my mom and has since become Lucas's favorite. He will wiggle and squirm in our arms making us turn it on for him over and over as he watches the snow and lights go. Love seeing his eyes light up in amazement and joy!
Over on his curtains, I hung a tree garland that I also purchased from the Target dollar isle. I thought they were so cute and they are amazingly well made to be so cheap.
To add more Christmas touches to his room, I replaced some of the pictures with some Christmas themed printables that I found free online. I have a post coming out soon where I share all my favorite Christmas printables and where you can get them!
Finishing the room, I added this adorable throw pillow of a whale wearing a Christmas hat from Joss and Main. As soon as I saw it, I just knew I had to have it for Lucas's room!
I love seeing how excited our baby boy gets exploring the new decorations around his room. It is truly amazing to see the world through his eyes and I cannot wait for us to create our own Christmas memories for him to cherish and reminisce for many years to come.
