How to Organize under the Kitchen Sink in THREE Easy Steps

I don't know about you guys, but one of the most disorganized places in my house has always been under the sink.  Whether it be the kitchen or bathroom, it doesn't matter, it is guaranteed to be a mess and it drives me nuts!

Before:  The mess that was under my kitchen sink.

While perusing at the dollar store, I ran into white plastic baskets.  I thought they would be great to begin tackling my under the sink organization issues.  Plus they are cheap so who can beat that!

Below are the quick easy steps that I took in order to finally get the under the sink area organized in our kitchen:

1.  Take EVERYTHING out.

I took absolutely everything out of the sink so that I could see what I was working with.  I soon realized that I should have organized a long time ago because I was able to see that I had mostly two of everything because I could never find anything down there!  I also took the opportunity to give that area a good cleaning! It definitely needed it!

2.  Separate into piles.

I made three piles: 1) currently using, 2) extra cleaning supplies 3) toss.  This made organizing it a breeze.  Even my husband has commented that it is now so much easier to find the stuff that we are looking for without having to rummage through everything.

3.  Put the most used supplies up front.

I put my daily cleaning supplies hanging on the cabinet door for easy access along with a microfiber cloth which we used instead of paper towels to wipe up messes and clean the counters.  Under the sink on the right, I put the stuff that we use almost every day, scrubbing brushes, cast iron scrub brush, extra sponges, and gloves.  In the back, I put all of the extra cleaning supplies that were either unopened or that I had two of.  Lastly, on the left hand side of the sink, right next to the dishwasher I put the basket of dishwasher soap along with extra garbage bags for easy access.

I think this entire process took less than 30 minutes and let me tell you, it was a 30 minutes well spent because the end product is soo much better and making our lives a whole lot easier.

AFTER: The white baskets helped tremendously in creating sections or products I normally use together.
